GETAWAYS • The Hamptons
Shopping out east
The Hamptons retail landscape has undergone its most significant upgrade in years. A variety of new boutiques have opened, all seemingly better aligned with the Hamptons clientele than some of the big brand splashes of years past, and many with ambitions to operate year-round. Here, FOUND’s guide to this summer’s best new additions to the retail scene — with Amagansett emerging as the top shopping destination — plus a couple of beloved staples:
AMAGANSETT:
The Row has transformed the (dearly departed) TIINA the Store building on Main Street (above) into a chic year-round outpost. Even if you’re not shopping The Row’s collection, it’s worth visiting to admire the elegant interiors — or to pick up provisions from NYC’s ascendant Happier Grocery. (Observes friend of FOUND Emily Sundberg, whose Feed Me newsletter is dropping dedicated Hamptons editions all summer, “Tiina used to sell The Row, so the luxury business certainly has an idea of who their retail customer is in Amagansett.”)
La Garçonne: The popular multi-brand boutique from Tribeca has opened a location in Amagansett Square, bringing designer clothing for men and women in a perfect summer color palette out east (below). On a recent visit, I was pleased to see brands including Dries van Noten, Auralee, and Ines Bressand finally making their way to the Hamptons.
Warm: A favorite of recent years on Main Street, this boutique is expertly curated by local Winnie Beattie. Warm offers an eclectic mix of home decor and clothing by designers like Rachel Comey, forte forte, R13, and Denimist.
MONTAUK:
Utilitaria Montauk Outpost: New to Montauk, resident Ingrid Solomonson has opened this store offering a little bit of everything from legendary collaborators — coveted vintage clothing and pieces curated by Bob Melet, jewelry by Meredith Kahn, clothing by Julia Jentzsch, art by Boohooray, handbags by Esha Soni, ceramics and sculptures by local artists, with more to come throughout the summer.
Adam Mar: Part surf shop, part men’s clothing line, this eponymous store and its owner are true gems. Mar not only stocks the best selection of surfboards from renowned shapers but also designs all of the clothing and accessories in the shop. If that weren't enough, he just released a surf magazine, AM Surf.
Tombolo: Because summer is not complete without one of Tombolo’s terry sets — and Montauk is a perfect place to rock one.
EAST HAMPTON: On Newtown Lane, Khaite has opened a seasonal store. Although there are no Richard Serra-esque partitions at this one, the store stays true to the brand’s signature simple, sophisticated style with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.
SAG HARBOR: Women’s clothing boutique TWP has opened its second store in Sag Harbor, which to my eye is equally as beautiful as TWP’s Soho shop. One FOUND correspondent told me that the Didi pants have been flying off the rack — “they’re just kind of perfect for the Hamptons.” –Sarah Jackson

Neighborhood you live in: Fort Greene
It’s Friday afternoon, how are you rolling into the weekend?
I pack my car and head upstate to Camptown in Leeds, NY, our 50-room hotel that we opened in March 2023. This year at Camptown, we’re finishing our event space, and Bar Piscina opened recently for the summer 2024 season, so right now we’re all hands on deck. As an owner, I wear many hats, but it's both a relaxing and fulfilling way to spend the weekend.
Where are you drinking or dining this weekend?
If I'm Upstate, I'll dine at Casa Susanna at Camptown one night (pro tip: the margaritas are 10/10), and during the day I recommend going to Rose Hill Farm for a farmstead cider — and get one of everything from the unique pop-up food trucks. If you have a sweet tooth, go to Fortunes and order honeycomb halva ice cream in a cone — trust me. (If you're ambitious, take it to Bard and enjoy your treat overlooking the Hudson.) If I'm in the city, I visit my favorites, including any restaurant by Andrew Tarlow, The Four Horsemen, Cervo’s, and Falansai.
How about a little leisure or culture?
The ultimate New York experience is going to Madison Square Garden and being a part of the city energy when both the Knicks and the Rangers in the playoffs. With that regrettably behind us for this year, I also love strolling through Central Park or Prospect Park. Summer in New York is as good as it gets. Everything is green, street performers and musicians are playing, and everyone seems to be in good spirits when the weather is warm. I also love perusing the Carroll Gardens farmers market on Sunday mornings — it is delightful.
Any weekend getaways?
I love the Ash-designed Ulysses Hotel in Baltimore. The rooms are one-of-a-kind, and their new event space, Swann House, is a feast for the eyes. Their cocktail bar, Bloom's, and the speakeasy, The Coral Wig, in historic Mount Vernon, are both fantastic.
What was your last great vacation?
I went with friends to Paris for three days, which gave us enough time to eat and drink our way through the city. Highlights included many artisanal bakeries, where we taste-tested all of the pastries, croissants, and Parisian coffee. We also visited countless museums to take in the art and checked out some of my new favorite spots, including the wine and ice cream bar (what a combination) Folderol and the wine bar Early June, ideal for the oenophile. It was heaven.
What store or service do you always recommend?
Fellow Barber is great. They have multiple locations, and it is such a well-run business that going there is always a pleasure. Additionally, if you're wondering where to find the best coffee ever, it's at Dayglow in Bushwick. Order a hot coffee and buy a bag of beans from their dozen-plus roaster selection.

GETAWAYS • Airports
FOUND’s occasional report from our region’s jetports:
JFK: The parade of recent new airport lounges continues with Wednesday’s opening of the first-ever-anywhere Delta One Lounge, located between terminals A and B at JFK’s T4. This one’s a doozy: Delta’s largest lounge ever, at nearly 40,000 square feet, and amenities ranging from spa to sky terrace (above) to a brasserie from Danny Meyer’s Union Square Events group. (The Points Guy, which published a detailed tour, called it, “likely the nicest and most luxurious airport club in the entire country.”) The catch: It’s for Delta One business travelers and (invite-only) Delta 360 members, with very few exceptions. Also of note:
T4’s old Sky Priority check-in area is now the Delta One check-in area. Later this year, Delta plans to debut a private TSA checkpoint for Delta One travelers that will lead directly into the Delta One Lounge.
Delta also plans to offer select customers rides from the lounge to their departure gate in Porsches driving along the tarmac. In.
JFK: In unrelated JFK lounge news, Cathay Pacific plans a new 10,000-square-foot lounge in the airport’s new Terminal 6, coming in 2026. The airline will leave its longtime home in Terminal 8 and shutter its outdated T8 lounge.
SWF: While Hudson Valley’s Stewart International Airport (50 miles north of NYC) hasn’t found huge footing with commercial airlines, the PJ business is good — and expanding. Two groups have received the Port Authority’s blessing to build new corporate and private jet hangars at Stewart, reports Gothamist. Money quote: “It feels like every hedge fund in Midtown Manhattan has called us.”
