It’s Tuesday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
I woke up early this morning after a weird night of sleep (aren’t we all having those right now?). But last night, we had a work tasting for a Roman & Williams event, and it involved a large piece of Charlotte chocolate cake, so the sugar could be a factor. Anyway, I get up fairly quickly, take a bunch of Arrae supplements that I’m trying to convince myself are working (I have actually noticed a difference), and get ready for the day.
I walk with my dog, Pesto, and boyfriend, Neil, to Ceremonia Bakeshop for a cold brew and maybe a baked good (I love their jalapeno cornbread and churro mochi muffin). Then it’s to the office. In October, I switched offices from a space in Soho I shared with industry business friends to a small office space in Williamsburg, just 10 or so blocks away. It’s already made a huge difference in helping separate work and personal life.
What’s on the agenda for today?
We’re prepping for a dinner party shoot with Sir Davis Whiskey and Andy Baraghani, as well as several events next week, including a 72-person dinner party for Architectural Digest and Roman & Williams Guild, showing their new lighting collection at a stunning space in Tribeca, along with a dinner party with Susan Kim for Moss.
Any restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
I missed dinner tonight with one of my best friends who had a reservation at Chez Ma Tante with Et Cetera (!), but I heard it was delicious and hope I can make it to the next. This week is more work than play, but last week, I made it to a few great meals, including Kellogg’s Diner here in Williamsburg and Tusk Bar across the bridge in Manhattan.
How about a little leisure or culture this week?
I’ve seen so many movies lately, all at Nitehawk. Must eat and have a glass of wine while watching movies. I loved The Substance, closely followed by Anora and We Live in Time. I loved the outfits and New York themes in Anora, with scenes at Coney Island and Brighton Beach.
What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
Experiences mostly — a stay at Hotel La Roqqa in Porto Ercole in Tuscany (truly the best meals I’ve had in years — like a truffle-soaked peach that looked like an olive), and an incredible spa treatment at Hotel Il Pellicano.
For objects, Charlotte Chesnais small new hoops. Every winter I also restock on Officine Universelle Buly body oil when it gets super dry, and let me tell you it's the best winter skin investment ever. Also, I just bought some life-changing towels from Japan and Turkey at Berlyn 65 this weekend.
What NYC store or service do you love to recommend?
$1/minute massages in my neighborhood at Wendy Korean Spa. I also recently tried a facial at Spencer’s Spa in Soho and it’s worth the hype! I left glowing.
